The Day Life Changed

On March 29 2010 Evan was driving to work when his tire blew which pulled him to the right and caused his Explorer to roll. He was badly injured. He broke C-5 C-6 in his neck and is now parlayed from the neck down. If the UPS drive had not been behind Evan he would of not been found until morning because he rolled off the road far enough no one would of seen his Explorer. Our life for the Evan Sleight family has been changed forever and we are now learning how to take care of Evan. This blog is to show our ups and downs on our new journey.

And the journey also contiues with our family now that it has been two years almost three. We still have our ups and downs just like all families do.

Well we have a new family picture for the year. It has been a while since we had a picture. It is hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner and the New Year is upon us. Evan health has been doing really well, even with the cold he is still doing well. I think that his body is finally getting us to the new way things are going to be. Logan, Marlene, Brittney, and Christopher are ready for school break. Tresithney and Sariah turned five on December 8th and are starting to help me with things that Evan need. All the kids are great help with the help Evan needs. I could not do this without them. I also could not do this without the prayers and support we have with all are friends and family THANK YOU! Have a Happy Holiday and a Wonderful New Year! Love from the Sleights

Another year coming to a close.

Well this year is getting closer to the end and a New Year is underway. We have had a pretty busy year and have stayed away from hospital stays for Evan which is nice. It has been a good healthy year for Evan. We are so grateful for all of the family and friends we have. Logan has successfully finished off another year of football and in the spring will start track. He is right now doing swing club and is thinking about doing another play. Marlene is in a honors club and is going to do track this spring. She really loves her classes at school and is doing well. Brittney is enjoying school. She plans to go out for the school play. She also plans to do track in the spring. Christopher is doing well in school. He is doing well with scouts and at the rate he is going will have his Eagle before Logan. Tresithney and Sariah are doing preschool this year and are really having a lot of fun. As for me I am trying to keep up with all the actives the kids have and help Evan. Life gets busy at the Sleight home like everyone else. It seems we are starting to adjust to the changes that have happened in the last year and a half. In March it will be two years where does the time go.

I am so happy that Evan is doing so much better. His body I think is starting to finally adjust to the changes. He still has pain and things that he still can not do. He stamina is still low and he takes naps often. It is how he makes it thru the day. He just recently got new arm rests put on to his chair and he loves them. Things are starting to get cold up here in Mantua. Evans body really rebels against the cold.

Well there are some exciting things in the mix hopefully one will come through so we can make Evan even more independent. We have put in to Habitat for Humanity and we are being nominated for Extreme Home Makeover by so really good friends. Now it is just a waiting game to see who is going to give us a answer. Keeping the fingers crossed.

We here at the Sleight home thank everyone for all the wonderful things you have done for us and all the prayers we have received it all helps. We would also like to Wish all of you a very Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We love each and everyone of you and hope all is well with you and your families.
